Metamorphosis in this insect is paurometabolous or hemimetabolus, it is a social insect. The members of the group search for food and feed mated individuals and small nymphs. They are also characterized by many flagellate protozoan animals in their digestive tract which help in the digestion of cellulose materials. Termite colony is made up of groups of individuals which are the only fertile group, they are winged and have compound and simple eyes. They loose their wings after mating. The Queen's body is relatively large since it produces vast quantity of eggs which reaches millions during the period of her life.
